NMA focuses on high-growth early stage companies with a connection to Michigan and preferably the Northern Michigan Region. Companies with plans to relocate or setup a significant presence in the region may also be considered.
Characteristics of Start-up Companies of Interest to NMA
- Based in Michigan, preferably Northern Michigan, with national and/or international scope.
- Market opportunity is sufficiently large to enable significant growth of the business.
- A compelling, well-articulated strategy for capturing significant market share.
- Proprietary technology, intellectual property or other barriers to entry.
- Strong management with relevant experience, a successful track record, a desire for advice and coaching and a willingness to listen.
- Strong management with relevant experience and a successful track record of leading successful startups.
- An exit strategy for the investors.
- A company valuation that represents a rational risk/reward calculation for the investment.

Our Process
Once you apply to NMA via Gust, your company may progress through the following basic steps.

Our Prescreen Committee will go over your application with you and ask additional questions.

Pitch
You'll be invited to join an upcoming Pitch Meeting.

Due Diligence
We'll enter into formal due diligence.

Deal
We'll structure the deal and finalize funds.
