Gary J. McRay recently retired from Foster, Swift, Collings & Smith PC , a 100 plus lawyer
Michigan firm where he specialized in health care law, corporate and business transactions
and non-profit tax law for 49 years. He was twice President of Foster Swift and was Chair of
the Health Law Section of the State Bar Association. While at Foster Swift he represented
health systems and health insurance companies across Michigan . Gary had the highest rating
by Martindale- Hubbell, and was recognized by Best Lawyers in America since 1993, and by
Michigan Super Lawyers since 2007 ( both in Health Care Law)

Gary has his BS in Economics from UM and his JD from University of Michigan Law School.
He has served as a board member and President of the Wharton Advisor Board ( MSU) , the
Lansing Art Gallery, and the Center for the Arts in Lansing. Since moving to the Traverse City
area Gary has enjoyed volunteering at the Jordan River Arts Council.
